Medical Technology

This is I think one of the most important evolutions of technology today. It affects every human being in one way or another. Some for the lack of access to medical technology, and then others for the ability to have access to it. I have experienced medical technology first hand myself. It seems when women become pregnant and have a child, that child will most likely pass threw the birth canal. And in doing so that child can be exposed to a bacteria called group B strep. Now many women carry this bacteria and are not aware of this fact. You see there is a test that is given to women at about 37 weeks of pregnancy and the test reveals whether or not you are a carrier of this bacteria. I had this test done and it came out negative, but with in hours of giving birth to my first born he became very ill and came close to death. Without antibiotics and oxygen my son would no longer be here. He  and I were very lucky that medicine has evolved and will continue to do so. If we didn't have this technology today, who knows what our population would be. Just things like bronchitis would be fatal. Heart conditions, Diabetes, Aids, these things without medical technology and the advancement of it would be a death sentence. You would surely be effected in some manor by this, and I doubt it would be positive. I might not be here, nor you yourself might not be here. Here is a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_technology that lists all the things that fall under Medical Technology they are to vast to list them all. But I am sure in some way you have used them or someone you love has. Even a condom that can protect you from disease and pregnancy is here because of medical technology. Without the advancement of technology as a whole, there are many lives being lived today that would not be possible. Just like with anything there are positives and negatives to all aspects of life and the human condition and this is one that I feel strongly is a wonderful thing. I thank all the scientists who have made by there hard work and dedication modern medicine possible. And I look forward to the day when a surgery will be completely noninvasive. You cant stop evolution it is a natural process.
