This to me is a very interesting subject. On one side we have Religion, and the other Science. I grew up with the theory of evolution taught in the classroom, and am not sure what all the debate is about? Elements of "separation of church and state" are in the constitution and Jefferson's metaphor of a wall of separation has been cited and used repeatedly by the U.S. Supreme Court Separation of church and state in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia To me there should be a seperation between "Church and State", It would be a vialation of fundamantal Human Rights to implement one parties religous views on the masses. We should not teach religous dogma in (Public School). If it is a private or chartered school then they can choose what extra academics they wish to teach. But we need to remember not everyone adheres to a relgion American Atheists | Welcome Free Thinkers and that is there "right". So why and how can we come up with Creationism and think that should be taught along side Evolution. And take away the rights of non-religous, or practicing a religion that are non-christian The Pluralism Project: Statistics by Tradition Creationism is not a provable or disprovable theory therefore it does not qualify as Science.
We have proof of evolution, not God. There is no proof of a divine being, or whatever you choose to call it. There are fossils, bones and clear evidence of the evolution process Evolution. I fear this could be disastorous if this radical idea becomes a law. People have the right to teach their children their Religion of choice at home or where they worship, not in schools, that is not the goverments right to subject other peoples children to such a idea or belief.
I can understand if you are a christian and believe that god created man, and the earth is not really millons of years old. That is your right and teaching evolution is not going to make you change your belief. We know this otherwise there would be no christianity left. So what exactly is their mentality about fear, control, intimadation, why now? I found it interesting in studies that the more education someone has the less likely they are to believe in creationism. Now creationist believe that the world is only thousands of years old and by not acknowleding that God created man they believ we are committing a sin. So in their defense I can see why there upset by this. Remember that creationism can not be proven, but evolution can. I do realize this is a subject that indeed to one group or another is right or wrong. It just depends on what side of the fence you choose to sit on today. And thank God or Science for that right. You decide.
